WHO RECOMMENDS FREQUENT CLEANING AND DISINFECTION OF SURFACES, ESPECIALLY THOSE THAT ARE REGULARLY TOUCHED.
HYGIENE RECOMMENDATIONS TO LIMIT THE SPREAD OF BACTERIA.
The new coronavirus that causes Covid-19 respiratory disease can survive on certain surfaces for up to three days, according to a study by U.S. researchers, and that may include your beloved phone. A more recent study by the Australian Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (CSIRO) explains that the virus could survive for up to 28 days when operating in an ambient temperature of about 20 degrees and in a darkened environment.
Another study conducted by the company Dscout, we touch our smartphone 2600 times a day and it is often in contact with our face.
This means that any bacteria, viruses or other germs that find their way onto your smartphone or shell could easily transfer to your skin and if you didn't know it yet, the one that accompanies you every day is a real nest of microbes.
Studies have shown that a smartphone can contain up to 17,000 germs on its surface. That's 10 times more than most toilet seats!
The Covid-19 pandemic is experiencing a rebound in France and in many European countries. Washing your hands in the right way, respecting the barrier gestures as well as distancing measures can therefore help you avoid any risk of contamination and transmission of the virus but what about cleaning your phone?
There are multiple recommendations concerning the hygiene of the smartphone but beware they imply very precise rules:
Pure alcohol can attack the oleophobic and hydrophobic coatings that prevent oil and water from damaging your smartphone's screen as well as its various connections (mini-jack port, USB port, microphone, speakers, SIM card drawer and microSD).
And if some websites recommend you to clean it with a mixture of alcohol and water, it is imperative not to make a mistake in the concentration.
If you don't want to take any risks, use disinfecting wipes containing 70% isopropyl alcohol. But this leads to additional waste and purchases every day.
The ideal solution would be to wash your phone as often as your hands! You will reduce the risk of contamination by regularly disinfecting your smartphone and tablet
How ? by equipping your smartphone with a waterproof case.
